We know at Haute Hijab the challenges we all face in prioritizing our prayer. Sometimes we miss our prayer, and sometimes long periods of time goes by where we are lax in our prayer and perhaps other faith practices as Muslims. We may struggle to make our prayer up. Knowing the

 can help. We’ve made it a priority to create the best, most high-quality and ethical hijabs and hijab products to help you feel confident and strong as Muslim women while also helping you hold tight to your deen and be close to Allah (S).

It is with this in mind that we’re so proud to share with you our latest collection: 

 – inspired by faith, crafted by devotion. And let me tell you, I think I’m the most excited person at HH about this new collection!

While I’m sure many of you have special prayer hijabs and/or designated hijabs for prayer, I never really have had a designated prayer outfit or hijab. Sure, growing up I had certain go-to chaddors (large pieces of cloth with finished edges used to wrap around your head and body) and scarves I grabbed for prayer. But in my past two-plus decades as a mom, my salah game has been pretty grab-and-go: Grab whatever hijab is closest, put on a coat or I'm wearing a t-shirt in the house and pray.

When I joined HH five-and-a-half years ago and perused the hijab categories we offered, I saw that prayer hijabs or prayer sets were absent, but I quickly learned they were on the roadmap of products we want to produce and offer to you. And so, I vowed that I wouldn’t buy a prayer set from anywhere else until I could own one made by Haute Hijab.

 is a two-piece set consisting of a skirt and long prayer hijab that comes down past the waistband of the skirt. It is made of 100% bamboo viscose poplin and has two sizes: S/M and L/XL.

 Bamboo Viscose, which is made from crushed bamboo fiber, is a bit different from our Bamboo Woven hijabs, which is made from bamboo cellulose. But it shares the same sustainable qualities of bamboo, and the fabric is known for its softness and antimicrobial properties, making it an ideal choice for daily wear. It’s lightweight weave adds comfort and ensures ease of movement and greater breathability. The fabric has moisture-wicking properties, is hypoallergenic and is durable and soft.

 We designed this prayer set with simplicity and ease of wear in mind –  so that you don’t have to fuss while praying. The hijab has elastic built in around the chin area, so you can adjust it to fit your face without having to worry about pins or ties. In the small/medium size, the top piece has a neck opening of 10 inches (12.5 inches when fully stretched out) and is 27 inches long in the front and 47 inches long in the back. The skirt piece is 14.5 inches in circumference around the waist and 27 inches when fully stretched out. It is 42 inches in length.

With the large/x-large size, the top piece has a neck opening of 11 inches (13 and ⅝ inches when fully stretched) and is 30 inches long in the front and 47.5 inches long in the back. The skirt piece is 16 inches in circumference around the waist and 43.5 inches when fully stretched out. It is 43.5 inches in length.

 We recommend that you hand wash or wash on delicate cycle with gentle, bleach-free detergent. Hang dry or tumble dry on low heat. Use a steamer or iron on medium heat for wrinkle removal

Who’s already ready for winter to end? This time of year always feels odd to me, as though we are in limbo and waiting out the remaining chilly months while patiently anticipating the warmth of spring. Sometimes, we need a kick of color in our lives to keep us moving and motivated. And so, in honor of 

, I wanted to share a taste of Palestinian dress while also showcasing some of our new woven hijab collection.

 will surely wake up your hijab game, and add a splash of technicolor to your outfits. What I love most about these colors is that you can cozy them up while we wait out the remaining of winter, and can also style them in the light and airy breezes of the upcoming spring and summer.

These new Woven colors are sure to become a staple in your hijab wardrobe. The styling possibilities are endless!

Black maxi dresses are super handy and easy piece to style with numerous hijabs. No matter the season, you can always benefit from this versatile capsule piece. For cooler weather, pair it with a thick coat or colorful bomber jacket. I love the pink and purple contrast against the black. It's the perfect blank canvas to experiment with all of our new Woven colors. The 

 bamboo woven hijab pairs beautifully with the intricate Palestinian embroidery known as 

 In tatreez, there are countless motifs and designs that were once created by Palestinian women inspired by their surroundings in nature, symbols portraying their beliefs, their season of life and what they were going through. Tatreez was also a reflection of one’s socioeconomic and marital status, depending on the color, placement, intricacy and use of fabrics.

We’re sticking with the all black theme, because nothing screams technicolor hijab more than a black canvas with which to pair it! A wide leg jean pants with a soft turtleneck are both fall and winter capsule pieces that I make sure to have. You can go so many ways with this look by adding chunky cardigans, sweaters, jackets, shawls or my personal pick – a keffiyeh! 

Simply fold the keffiyeh into a triangle and use a belt to secure the waist. Add a pop of color with one of our new Wovens to the black and white pattern for a bold statement.

 is an iconic black-and-white or red-and-white scarf adopted by many countries in the Middle East and is part of Arab culture. Men usually wear this headscarf as part of their cultural dress. In Palestine, it has historically become a symbol of Palestinian culture and is deeply rooted in the Palestinian identity of resistance to cultural erasure and our right to exist in our homeland.

Just like with tatreez, the different symbols on the keffiyeh represent various aspects of Palestinian life. The fishnet pattern symbolizes the importance of the fishing trade and the fishermen who have historically played an integral part of the economy and livelihood of Palestine. The bold black lines represent historical trade routes that pass through Palestine. The leaf design symbolizes the leaves of the olive trees, a significant agricultural, economic and cultural symbol.

No matter the season, a denim jacket is a must have in your modest fashion wardrobe. It is a capsule item that can go with a variety of different pieces depending on the weather or occasion. Growing up, I loved pairing my summer dresses with a cropped or hip-length jean jacket, in more recent years the oversized, baggy look is my preference. You can also play around with your look and add some character by mixing and matching your denim washes.

A maxi denim skirt is another go-to staple piece that can work in so many different ways. It is a trend that is making a comeback, and I am all here for it. It brings back memories of my teenage hijab years! I love the look of the jacket with a straight cut denim skirt, although you can always pair your jacket with a maxi dress or jeans.

You can’t go wrong topping off this ensemble with any of our 

 hijab that perfectly complements the embroidery on the back. I love the application of tatreez on 

denim jacket. I have seen many stitchers take on similar projects and stitch on the back of their jean jackets, which I personally have added to my tatreez project idea list!

The design on the back of this denim jacket is derived and reimagined from an iconic chest design of the Gaza region thobe, Palestinian dress. The motifs and placement mimic historical architecture of the region. Here, the triangles resemble the shapes found on historical homes that were known for jagged triangular designs around their doorways. The color scheme of the Gazan dress is also famous for incorporating bright vibrant colors such as purples, blues and pinks. These colors were extracted from snails and hand dyed. Because Gaza is a coastal region and had an abundance of snails, these colors became popular and widely used in Gaza’s embroidery.

Dress To Preserve Indigenous Traditions & Culture

While we are still in the thick of winter, I couldn’t help but include a good maxi dress option for all of us who are anticipating warmer days to come. When I find a good maxi, long sleeve dress on the market, I make sure to snag it for an easy, put-together look.

What I love about maxi full sleeve dresses is that depending on the hijab style and fabric, you can go casual with one of our woven flowy hijabs or dress up your look with one of our Everyday Chiffons. I love the bold contrast of bright colors that the electric blue and Viva Magenta woven offer. This will be one of my go to outfits in the spring and summer, for sure!

I added tatreez to this linen dress after visiting The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in the summer of 2022. I was in awe of all the thobes on display that were indigenous to the North Sinai, Egypt region, which shares its border with South of Gaza. Naturally and prior to occupation, the dwellers of both regions would mingle and share customs and traditions, hence the overlap in tatreez dress designs, patterns and colors between the Sinai region and Gaza.

The thobes of the Sinai region, similar to those of Gaza, are known for their bright, bold use of colors such as hot pink, orange, red and blue that reflects the bright and bold spirit of Egyptian culture.

Honoring Palestine Through Fashion By Styling Our New Bamboo Woven Colors

It’s in the chilly month of January, when the winter holidays are behind us and all the work we put off until the new year must be dealt with, that we can’t help but think about the coming of spring. The freshness of spring scents, the newness of spring growth, and the beauty of spring colors flowing through our hijabs and our fits.

Spring 2024 color trends are out and the Pantone 2024 color of the year is a beauty that is already in rotation in our Haute Hijab collections – Peach Fuzz! “A velvety and gentle peach. Sensitive but sweet and airy. Softly nestled between pink and orange.” This is how

For 25 years now, Pantone has been convening with a group of global color analysts to select a singular shade that will sum up the year. These largely anonymous decision makers meet in “white-walled rooms to avoid any accidental influence over color discussions, remain largely anonymous. “I can’t tell you the names,” David Shah, a publisher and designer who runs the meetings, 

. “They’re involved with everything from furniture through to clothing and knitwear.”

The choosing of the color of the year is influenced by a number of things, from “trends in the entertainment industry to emerging lifestyles and upcoming sporting events,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute 

. “To arrive at the selection each year, our team of color experts at the Pantone color institute comb the world looking for new color influences.”

Peach Fuzz was chosen this year not just based on analyzing the usual trends, but more so in response to global turmoil. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute said 

 “An idea as much as a feeling, Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz awakens our senses to the comforting presence of tactility and cocooned warmth.”

They Are Our (2023) Hijab and Hijab Accessories Bestsellers for Good Reason!

When it comes to the heat of summer (and fall, because ugh, global warming), a tried-and-true way for hijab-wearing women to manage the heat often comes down to two things:

Our lightweight Bamboo Wovens, with its antimicrobial properties, as well as our HH Sport Tech Wrap (which can cool you 1-2 degrees) and our classic Everyday Chiffons are all great options for the heat, especially if you choose light colors to wear.

And while wearing light colors in the right fabrics really makes a difference in managing the heat, an inevitable problem that comes with it is sweat and makeup stains. Who hates the sweaty makeup stains that come on our hijabs after wearing them out and about? We’re all raising our hands here at HH!

But all is not lost. There are ways to care for and clean your hijabs based on the fabric, which we detail for you in this 

 that details fabric content for our hijab and hijab accessories categories as well as how to care for your hijabs (and dry them). However, sometimes in the heat of summer, sweat and makeup stains can prove stubborn to remove.

So, here are some cleaning hacks you can try! These hacks should help with stain removal on most hijab fabrics, but you will want to take extra care when it comes to our Perfect Satin hijabs or our older silk hijabs. In general, be gentle when it comes to stain removal, like with our Bamboo Wovens, which needs a lighter touch.

 Sometimes it feels like there is no problem that baking soda can’t solve (well, within reason haha). One thing to try when it comes to sweat or makeup stains is to make a paste of baking soda and water, cover the stain on your hijab for a minimum 15 minutes (gently work it into the stain) and then wash the hijab as per 

 Another recommended approach is to make a paste of baking soda and laundry detergent with water and apply that to the stain for 15 minutes or so before washing the hijab.

 We love a product like Oxyclean pretreatment stain remover, which you can 

spray on or rub into a sweat or makeup stain

 Talcum powder is a tried and true method to combating oil stains in fabrics. And, often when it comes to makeup, different oils can be part of the ingredients within various types of makeup. So, if your makeup stain is oil-based, try dousing the stain with talcum powder to absorb the oil before washing the hijab as you would normally do.

 Satin can be a tricky fabric with which you want to take some extra care. When it comes to stains, try placing a few drops of mild dish soap onto the fabric and use a soft cloth to rub the soap into the stain with a small amount of water, until you see suds forming. Then use another soft cloth to dab the area and remove the stain. You may need to repeat this step a few times, then wash as directed. A stain stick or pretreatment stain is also a good option to try.

The best advice we can give is to treat stains on your hijab as soon as possible. Don’t take your hijab off and decide to treat the stain at some later date (if at all possible).

5 Ways to Remove Stubborn Makeup and Sweat Stains From Your Hijabs

Have you ever noticed how certain colors make you feel energized and confident, while others induce calmness or even a little sadness? The impact of color on our psychology and mood has intrigued psychologists, designers and artists for centuries, and, quite frankly, can be very subjective.

In the world of fashion, color is not just about aesthetics – it can unlock a world of emotions. It sounds a bit dramatic, I know, but the

Here at Haute Hijab, we’ve been leaning heavily into color this summer and exploring the relationship between the psychology of color and the hijabs we wear. Now, this is a whole science on its own, one we cannot begin to fully address with this post. If you're seeking a sense of tranquility and serenity, turn to the cool side of the color spectrum. Blue never fails to elicit these feelings. Think of the last time you were at the beach, staring peacefully at the different shades of ocean blues and turquoise. Did it not instill in you a beautiful sense of calmness and peace? Almost as if it quenched the thirst of your eyes? The color blue has actually been shown to lower blood pressure and promote a sense of relaxation – surprised?

Green, reminiscent of nature and growth, is associated with balance, harmony and renewal. Think of a time you were hiking through a forest, or staring at a mountain of evergreens. There’s something soothing and refreshing about it.

Warm colors – such as red, orange, and yellow – are known to evoke feelings of excitement, energy and enthusiasm. Red, in particular, has been linked to increased heart rate and heightened emotions. It can create a sense of urgency and passion, making it an ideal choice when you want to make a bold statement or stand out in a crowd.

Orange is associated with warmth, friendliness, and optimism. It can uplift your mood and promote a sense of vitality. What about good old neutrals – the backbone of any wardrobe? Why have they been trending over the past few years, and especially during covid? All over social media, all we saw were white houses, beige interiors, and blush pink wardrobes and household items. There’s a reason for that.

How do neutrals play a role in shaping our image and mood? Neutrals are calm and reliable, undisrupted.

Think about black (yes, black is a neutral, and also 

!), the epitome of sophistication and power. A well-tailored black suit can instantly make you feel self-assured and ready to make a lasting impression and give you an air of authority. It can also be elegantly understated if you wanted to blend in, but appear put together. You really can never go wrong with black!

White, often associated with purity and simplicity, conveys a sense of freshness and openness. A flowing white dress or 

 can create an effortlessly chic and sophisticated look, radiating confidence and approachability.

Gray is seen as a practical and timeless color that exudes neutrality and balance. Brown, reminiscent of earthy tones, is often associated with reliability, stability, and warmth.

Ok, this is all really cool. Now, how do I use color psychology to curate my hijab/fashion wardrobe?

Well, that’s entirely up to you! Do you need to reach for a red hijab or blazer when you’re trying to stand out? No. Your personality can do that for you. You can certainly follow your instinct when reaching for your color of the day (and you’ll actually find that most of the time, your instincts will match the research in color psychology), but it’s cool to have this information in your toolbox for certain situations.

For example, when dressing for specific occasions, consider the impact you want to create. Are you attending a job interview and aiming to project professionalism? Opt for sophisticated neutrals like gray or navy/shades of blue.

Do you want to make a memorable entrance at a social event? Vibrant colors like fuchsia, orange or royal blue can help you stand out and radiate confidence.

At the end of the day, remember to stay true to yourself. These aren’t rules, but rather guideposts that you can choose to follow, if you like. Also, keep in mind that cultural influences play a role in the psychological impact of color. Some cultures wear black to funerals. Others wear white.

Experiment and find the colors that resonate with your personal style and personality. Don’t be afraid to mix and match. Most importantly, go with what makes you feel your best.

Lastly, in my research about the psychology of color, I have to say I am left in wonder at Allah (S), 

 (the most beautiful). It is He who created these colors, all to be found in the most awe-inspiring moments in nature. Sunrises and sunsets, oceans and skies, desert sands, savannahs, and rainforests, underwater worlds, fields of flowers, fruits and vegetables, landscapes, animals, humans and so much more. Everything is by His design, and learning about this has left me in awe, pondering the wonders of His creations, blessings, and mercy.

Mood Lifting Hijab Hues – How the Colors You Wear Impact Your Psychology & Emotions

What do you think of when you hear the words “color theory”?

Is it about going back to grade school and art classes to understand how the color wheel works? What colors do you mix to get other colors? Is it about understanding color harmony – what colors go nicely with other colors? Is it about emotions? What colors evoke which emotions and why? Or is it about understanding the different contexts in which color can be used and applied to our lives, from what we wear to how we decorate our homes and everything in between?

Is it about understanding our own skin tone and seasonal skin tones and which colors compliment us? Which ones can brighten us? Which ones can bring peace to us?

If you like to scroll through Instagram, Tik Tok and other social media platforms, you may have seen many people in the fashion industry as well as influencers and, well, a variety of people talk about color theory. They may also have seen a professional color theorist to help understand their own psychology and skin tone as it pertains to color.

All this to figure out what colors they gravitate towards and which ones they feel good in. (Well, that’s one of the big reasons why people see color theorists.)

One cannot cover all there is to know in one post about color theory and how it pertains to our own psychology and what will probably look good on us or help us feel good about ourselves. It’s important to note that at the end of the day, picking a hijab color (and fabric) is a highly individualistic choice, and if you like a particular colored hijab or a print, regardless if it “works” within the realm of color theory and skin tones, just go for it! Understanding your skin tone and how color theory meshes with it is an extremely useful tool to help us understand what looks good on us and why.

But at the end of the day, if you like something, get it!

Color Theory, Figuring Out Our Skin Tone and Choosing Hijabs That Help Us Look & Feel Good

It’s one thing for a bride to figure out the style of dress she’d like to wear as well as her hijab and other accompanying accessories. It’s also a whole other job for the bridal party to figure out their outfits that will compliment each other and the bride’s color and taste! And add the extra factor of finding outfits that are modest and have accompanying hijabs (for those who wear it).

It can be a huge undertaking. Should the bridal party wear matching outfits? And will those outfits look good on all body types? I personally steer away from the monotoned, uniform look of bridesmaids and bridal party dresses that are matchy-matchy. The slightly more mismatched look, where everyone’s personality can shine in the dress they choose but still look put together and cohesive as a group, perhaps by sharing the same color palette, is much more on trend. You can even consider wearing different types of clothing all together while sticking to a basic color theme.

Sometimes the bride has a particular vision and instruction on what you’re to wear as a bridesmaid or maid of honor (or member of the bridal party). But more often than not, you have some leeway. If you’re in the process of looking for an outfit for your bestie’s big day (like me!), here are some silhouettes and suggestions to get you started on some traditional, and not so traditional looks.

There is something about an abaya that screams elegance. For an event like a wedding, I would keep an eye out for appliques, feathers or delicate sequins (or a knot detail) to add some festive flare. Abayas are ideal for mixed weddings: Wear your party dress and cover up with a modest yet fashionable flowy abaya on top. It’s perfect for easy on and off throughout the night. The entire bridal party can don various designs of an abaya, and it will look simply gorgeous!
