Ever since we debuted our No-Snag Hijab Magnets in January of 2020, we never imagined that something as small as a third of an inch in diameter could have such a huge impact on our hijab-wearing experience. And yet here we are. These beauties have single-handedly made holes and snags a thing of the past, and their incredible strength works with all the fabrics we carry – chiffon, woven, silk, satin, you name it. They’re even strong enough to hold through multiple layers of jersey!

We started with the gold and then brought you more and more colors as they became one of your staple hijab foundational accessories – silver, rose gold, matte black. Then we thought, what else could we do to these magnets to bring you more options, more elegance, more beauty, more ways to accessorize? And that’s when our product team began work on creating a jeweled magnet like no other.

The idea was to bring sparkle and glamour to our popular hijab magnet, but how? Our HH product team began researching what it would take to embed tiny crystals into our fan-favorite magnet design, relying on our manufacturing partner to help us create something to our specifications. We wanted the crystals to feel elevated and glamorous without adding too much additional weight to our already-balanced and well-proportioned hijab magnet.

We wanted this crystal magnet to bring sparkle, catch the light and provide that perfect amount of next-level glam to your hijab style. The goal was to provide an embellished version of our classic no-snag hijab magnet, but getting there took some doing.

“We had a really clear picture of how we wanted the customer to feel and how elevated we wanted the magnet to look, but to make it happen on a magnet cap that is gold plated, not too heavy on the magnet, really functional and isn’t going to fall apart was a whole other challenge,” says Associate Production Director Lily Steele. How should the crystals be added to the magnet? What size should they be? How many would it take to give that overall sparkle we wanted? These were all questions the HH product team worked through in five iterations of these magnets.

It took three iterations, Lily says, to realize that the crystals needed to be hand-embedded. Otherwise the look of the magnet wasn’t as elevated as we wanted it to be. Our team also tried a prototype with larger crystals, but it made the magnet bulky, so we went back to smaller ones to get that full-coverage sparkle we were after.

The beautiful result is our new Pavé Crystal Hijab Magnet, plated in 14k gold with 142 pavé hand-embedded crystals. To get even more technical, if that’s your thing, it’s a neodymium magnet with a bezel cap made from nickel-free brass and 14-karat gold plating with embedded pavé crystals, each one 1.5 mm in size. Each set of 2 pairs of magnets retails for $40, accounting for their handcrafted precision using premium quality materials.
