How many times have you wrapped your hijab, reached for a pin to secure it underneath your chin and snagged your hijab? Or grabbed your favorite, go-to hijab and dreaded putting yet another pin hole in it? I remember in the first few years after I started wearing hijab, I had one in particular that I liked to wear a lot. You know – that hijab that you always grab over and over because it looks good on you and wraps well.

There wasn’t much by way of good accessories or pins to help secure my hijab back then, so I always reached for a safety pin. After wearing it multiple times, my favorite hijab had a number of safety pins permanently snagged in it or threads pulled from the pins. Pin holes pock-marked the precise area where I drew it together under my chin to pin. It. Was. Frustrating.

Why magnets? Well for starters, they are the perfect way to save your hijab from being ruined by snags and holes ever again! They are beautifully designed and small – 6.2 mm in width – so as not to feel bulky underneath your chin and against your neck. And, they are strong enough to secure the folds of any hijab we carry – chiffon, silk, viscose, jersey, you name it!

As with all our products, we put a lot of time and thought into your hijab-wearing experience, and we wanted to provide a superior-quality magnet that we could stand behind. We had sampled other hijab magnets on the market, but found that many weren’t as strong as we liked – so we designed ours to be the strongest ones we could find. It wasn’t easy, though! “We started the process of sourcing these magnets more than a year ago,” says our Product Development Specialist Lily Steele. “I would go to trade shows and talk to button manufacturers. But the manufacturers who make magnets didn’t make pretty ones.

“So, we looked for someone who did custom metal work to develop beautiful magnets for us, but it was still proving to be hard,” says Lily. “What became a game changer was when Brian [McCarthy, Logistics Specialist] came on board. With his previous experience working with handbags, he had connections to people who could make just the kind of no-snag hijab magnets we wanted – strong, beautiful, high quality and affordable.”

Our product team tested numerous iterations of the magnets, looking at (among other things) width, strength, comfort and aesthetics to come up with the final product. With its gorgeous rounded gold finish and “Haute Hijab” elegantly etched into it, you’re sure to love these magnets and make them part of your hijab routine!
