New to fitness and don’t know where to begin? One of the most common things I’m asked as a fitness trainer is “What’s the best workout for beginners?” so I put together a short and simple workout that's a great way to get started! I love these moves because they don’t require any special equipment so they can be done just about anywhere. All you need is a few feet of space and you’re ready to go!

In the video below, you will learn the proper form for a series of basic moves that are actually the foundation for more advanced moves. These moves are great at targeting and toning all the major muscle groups in your body. While doing these exercises you’ll be using your own bodyweight as resistance, building strength and endurance. As you get stronger you’ll find that you’ll be able to up the ante, adding more and more difficult exercises to challenge yourself, and that’s where it really gets fun ;)
Remember, it’s not about perfection, it’s about becoming your best self. So give this workout a try and do what you can. If you need to take extra breaks, do it!
Here is a breakdown of what muscle groups these moves will target:
Squat - This exercise will help build strength in the quads and glutes. It also helps stabilize the knee.
Lunge - This exercise helps build strength in the quads and glutes, helps work on balance, and works each leg individually so you can make sure you build out the strength in each leg.
Push-up - This exercise is great to build upper body strength, especially in the chest, shoulders, and triceps.
Plank - This is a great exercise to strengthen the entire core and shoulders. It’s also great if you have a weak back.
Bicycle Crunches - A great exercise to work on all the areas of your abdominal section (upper, lower abdominals as well as the obliques. Be sure to go slow and controlled, you’ll really feel this one ;)
Now get started on these exercises and complete 3 rounds total! The following constitutes one round:
  • 15 Squats
  • 15 Lunges each leg
  • 15 Push-ups
  • 30 second Plank
  • 30 Bicycle Crunches
  • Remember, it's never a bad time to start working out and taking care of your body! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!
