Sweats, yoga pants, pajamas, anything with elastic. 2020 was a year that required a wardrobe like no other. When the COVID-19 global pandemic trapped us (for the most part) in our homes, most of us ditched heels for slippers, button downs for hoodies and even forgot makeup existed for a while. What were the Spring 2020 trends? Who knows? What constituted a cute summer wardrobe? Ummmm? Yes, we continued to cover fashion and to help you feel and look your best at home and in a zillion Zoom meetings, but quarantine fashion was also the year of whatever gets you through the day.
So, let’s honor the clothing that became our 2020 uniform. (You may want to consider treating yourself to some new versions of these staples!) This is an ode to the unsung heroes of our 2020 wardrobes!
Lounge Sets

The dressier relative of PJs, lounge sets are much more Zoom appropriate but just as comfortable. We wore these at home, running errands, and maybe even to bed – but no one could have known we slept in them with how put-together they looked! Extra points for sets that could be dressed up or restyled, like the knit top of this set.
Hoodies
A long-time favorite, hoodies can be worn under blazers for an understated chic look or with jeans for a casual go-to. This year we wore these anywhere and everywhere. Any time grabbing a hijab was too much of a task, a hoodie with the hood pulled tight did the task for opening the door to grab our 40th Amazon order of the month. We love how snuggly this one looks.
Sweats
In short, 2020 is the year of the sweats. Arguably one of the most comfortable articles of clothing one can wear, most of us probably found ourselves hitting “checkout” on an online cart full of sweats this year. But how could we not with options like this cute tie-dye set? Plus, you could wear a button-down and a blazer (or any nice blouse) on top and rock your sweats on the bottom for any virtual meeting!
Knits

Although knits are a staple every year, this was the year they really shined as we pulled them over PJs when we were late to virtual meetings or threw them on with a pair of sweatpants to run errands. We usually opted for oversized cuts that hide how friendly we got with our fridge and pantry during quarantine, but we love Melanie's more sophisticated white number that’s perfect for working from home.
Athleisure
Remember all the trend alerts we’ve published in the past? Well, they all went out of the window except one – athleisure. This year was all about being as comfortable and casual as possible and nothing accomplishes that goal as well as sport clothes. Matching the color of different athletic pieces was a genius way to achieve a casual but comfortable look. And, it was amazing how good athleisure could look when paired with a sleek

Woven hijab!
Pajamas/Pajama Bottoms

This list would be remiss without a shout out to the most unsung hero of 2020 quarantine fashion of them all – our pajamas. Specifically, pajama bottoms! Cotton, flannel, velour, knit, you name it! A lot of us lived in our pajama bottoms, throwing on a respectable knit, blouse, blazer or a large, beautifully wrapped, forgiving hijab to make everything look good enough from the waist/neck up.
We want to hear what your hero pieces were in your 2020 wardrobe! Did your loungewear collection somehow multiply exponentially after the past year like ours did? If so, let us know in the comments what pieces you added!
