Our pleated hijab category is expanding, just in time for Ramadan and spring! As per our commitment to bringing you the best quality, innovative and beautiful hijabs, we knew that when we decided to add pleated hijabs to our hijab repertoire, we wanted it to be different, unique and something you hadn’t seen before. We started with Fine Pleats back in October; and today, we’re proud to introduce to you our new collection of Cascade Pleat hijabs!
These gorgeous hijabs feature a fanned-out pleat – a cascading pleat – that elevates this beautiful hijab collection with a textured chiffon that starts with a narrow width of pleat in the center, then segues to a wider pleat and finally fans out to textured chiffon fabric at the hijab ends.
The beauty of this design, explains our Production Development Manager, Elizabeth Walsh, is that the textured elements of this hijab makes it a great “gateway chiffon hijab, for the woman who likes the polished look of chiffon but may have trouble wearing it because it can be slippery. Our cascading pleat hijabs are lightweight and semi-transparent, like our solid chiffon hijabs, but it's chiffon fabric is more textured, and the pleated embellishment will also provide some more friction.”

In designing a collection like this, a lot of the work for our Product Team began with figuring out how to iterate the basis of pleats – should there be three steps of pleats? Two? How should they graduate from narrow to wider? How wide should each iteration of pleats be? Where should those pleat dimensions change in the hijab to wrap beautifully around the head? What will look best?
“Thankfully, once we played around with the measurements and figured out what we thought would work well, we didn’t have to go through too many prototypes,” says Elizabeth. What the Product Team landed on was a narrow width of a pleat in the center graduating to a wider pleat and fanning out further at the end to showcase the beautiful texture of the chiffon.
The Cascade Pleat hijabs come in three gorgeous colors – Cashmere, Desert Green and Orchid– and measure at 8.5 inches in width (when relaxed), 30 inches when max stretched out and 72 inches in length. There is also a gorgeous printed pleat hijab called Classic Pleat Hijab - Moxie, with two tiers of cascading pleats that joins the collection, featuring an abstract design with a mix of mink, deep burnt ochre, teal, sea green, black and other colors.
Cascade Pleat - Orchid
Our Cascade Pleat Hijab captures high-end design with three styles of permanent pleats on sheer, textured chiffon. Fine, narrow pleats gradually fan out into relaxed broad pleats for a lightweight, flowing drape defined by elegant flair. A chic gold metal plate adds the finishing touch of sophistication to complement every stunning detail.
The printed pleat is a favorite of the HH team. “We wanted to throw something else in there that was totally different,” says Elizabeth. “It’s meant to be the showpiece of your outfit. You could wear a monochrome outfit and throw the printed pleat hijab on, and that hijab is the cherry on top – the star of the show. It’s that easy!” The printed pleat hijab is 10” in width (when relaxed), 27 inches when max stretched out and 72 inches in length.
How do I style this hijab?
There are so many lovely styling possibilities! Check out our product pages, which features a variety of styling options for these beauties! We also have all sorts of styling videos and tutorials coming your way on our Instagram and other social media platforms!
We recommend pairing this with any of our Ultimate Underscarves, as these hijabs are semi-transparent. Of course you can wear them sans underscarf if you so choose. You can drape it over your head (without having to give it a lengthwise fold), cross it under your chin, secure it with one of our No-Snag Hijab Magnets, criss-cross the ends and toss over your shoulders for an effortless style that that is altogether sophisticated, elegant and simple!
How to care for Cascade Pleat Hijabs
A special hijab like this requires special care! Like any luxury fabric, this hijab is dry clean only to maintain the crispness of the pleats. It shouldn’t wrinkle as you wear it, but if needed, you can lightly steam it to refresh the pleats. Don’t iron these hijabs!. For storing, we recommend rolling them or hanging them.

How much do Cascade Pleat hijabs, cost and how were they made?
These solid color Cascade Pleat hijabs retail at $45 while the Classic Pleat Hijab - Moxie (our printed pleat) costs $55. As with all our products, all materials for our Cascade Pleat Hijabs were sourced and produced in an ethical manner as upheld by the manufacturing factory we have partnered with using a special pleating technique.
This collection is also produced by a factory that adheres to Bluesign certification. In a nutshell, Bluesign certified means the factory that has this certification has undergone extensive evaluations and has to adhere to numerous standards and protocol for sustainability practices, ethical working environments, fair wages and a host of standards as dictated by the United Nations Global Compact.
It’s important to us at HH to work with factories that have certifications like this, as it is an extra assurance of ethical labor and sourcing practices, all important things to us. Allah (S) has placed an amanah upon us all to care for those we work with, and that trust is important to us.
We just love these new pleated hijabs, and we hope you will too!
