Eid is just around the corner, and there is excitement in the air as families prepare for this special celebration by baking sweet treats, preparing their new clothes, applying henna, and decorating their homes!
A festive, simple, and inexpensive way to decorate your home is by using balloons - all shapes, sizes, and colors! A perfect way to make any indoor Eid tablescape pop is by setting up these adorable miniature EID balloon columns!
The supplies you will need to make these miniature columns are:
37 x 5-inch balloons, assorted colors. You can also make a spiral pattern of gold and silver for a more grown-up, chic look!6-inch foil-letter balloons: E, I, and DRibbonScissorsBalloon pump (optional): you can use your mouth, a hand-held balloon pump ($5 from Walmart) or an electric balloon pump ($25 from Walmart or Amazon)WaterStep 1: Fill up a balloon with a little water and secure it with a knot. This will be your balloon weight and will stabilize your column. Attach your ribbon to your balloon weight and set aside.
Step 2: It's time to prepare your balloons! Inflate four balloons and tie two together to create two sets of duplets.
Step 3: Now it's time to turn your duplets into quads. Simply join them together at the knots and twist the balloons around each other to secure in place.
Step 4: To start building your column, nestle your balloon weight underneath one of the quads and pull up your ribbon to the center tightly. Continue to wrap your balloons to secure your balloon to the quad. When you are finished, bring your ribbon to the center. Add your second quad on top of the first, nestling the balloons in the grooves of the quad below, and wrap the ribbon in figure eights around the two quads to hold them in place. Repeat with the third quad.
Step 5: When you are done, bring your ribbon to the center and cut. Attach your ribbon to your foil letter and nestle it in the center of your column. Begin to wrap your ribbon into the quads below in figure eights. Once your topper is secure, reach in and cut the string.
Your sweet miniature balloon columns are all done! These will last for a few days before they start looking a little sad. You can play with the height of your columns by adding more quads on top of each other. To create a more chic look, you can alternate gold, silver, and/or rose gold balloons for a little modern flair.
