As the temperatures soar and heat prevails in many parts of the U.S. and around the world, it is more and more difficult to put together modest and cute outfits that are comfortable and cool. Having moved from the Windy City of Chicago to the desert climate of Doha, dressing for the heat is something I really struggled for a while. After a lot of trial and error, I finally realized the fairly obvious fact that no matter how cute my outfit was, it would leave me hot and uncomfortable if it wasn’t tailored to the weather.
Now, you can learn from my struggles and beat the heat! Here are some tips I’ve learned that are vital to enjoying the summers while staying modest!
Avoid Layering
Layering is a modest dresser’s superpower. Any outfit can be made modest through layering. Short sleeves? Grab a cardigan. Dress too short? Layer jeans or trousers underneath. Bottoms too fitted? Wear a cute, longer sleeveless jacket on top. But,. what do you do when the temperatures go soaring and layering has you feeling and looking uncomfortable? The easiest way to put together modest outfits in the summer is to choose pieces that you won’t need to layer. Think long sleeve, looser tops, full length maxi dresses and non-sheer clothes. Chances are, the fewer pieces you’re wearing, the cooler you’ll be. Shop similar looks here: Baby Blue Suit | Lilac Maxi Dress | Dusty Blue Two-Piece Suit Image source: @simplyjaserah
