It’s Giving Tuesday, and we’re donating a portion of proceeds from all sales today to A Continuous Charity for Women’s Empowerment (ACC4WE). Why? Because we want to help Muslim women invest in their own future without the burden of interest upon them.

One of the biggest obstacles for us to overcome in mapping out a good future for ourselves and our loved ones is pursuing education without the burden of exorbitant student loans. The student loan crisis is astronomical for a number of reasons, affecting borrowers, lenders and everyone in between.

A new report from the Bipartisan Policy Center (a Washington, D.C.-based think tank) shows that 45 million student loan borrowers collectively owe $1.7 trillion in student loans. This problem is compounded for Muslims trying to get ahead in life and obtain further education without being saddled by interest-bearing debt, something that is considered to be haram in Islam. Either you take out a student loan and deal with riba and the possibility of not getting out from under that loan, or you struggle to find a way to pay for your education.

This is why the mission of A Continuous Charity, which is to provide solutions to the interest-based student loan crisis, is so very important. ACC’s goal is to “promote the spiritual and intellectual development of Muslims throughout North America by providing interest-free loans for higher education. By doing this, we hope to bring about a generation of graduates [who] will have a strong Muslim identity and be well-versed in their fields, using both for the benefit of mankind.”

Haute Hijab is proud to partner with ACC on Giving Tuesday and will be donating a portion of all sales proceeds today to ACC4WE, a program dedicated to empowering Muslim women to achieve their educational and career goals through the support of interest-free loans. Thus far, ACC has awarded 178 female students with interest-free loans, and with your help, they will be able to award even more.

This is our second partnership with ACC, having previously partnered to raise money for them through our Launchgood campaign last Ramadan. We were also proud to feature their work with the Ikram Foundation for the #FundHerFuture campaign last month.

We want to see Muslim women succeed in life in whatever it is they want to do, and we are proud to do whatever we can to help our fellow sisters go after their dreams and goals in a way that doesn’t burden them with interest-bearing debt.
