Ahhh September! The leaves are turning colors, there’s a crispness in the air and pumpkin spice has taken over everything – again. Ok, it’s still horribly hot in many parts of the U.S. (and the world) and pumpkin spice muscled its way back in the marketplace back in August, but FALL IS ALMOST HERE! For many of us at Haute Hijab, it’s our favorite season of the year. (Well, it is for me!)
There’s a seasonal rebirth that I feel is synonymous with September and the coming of autumn, with schools starting up again and many of us returning full-fledged to the routines of work and home after the shenanigans of #HauteGirlSummer. We just completed our Haute Hijab Academy of content to help you get ready for this season, and I hope you found our articles and content useful and fun! Here are a few to check out if you didn’t read them the first time around:
1. The ultimate guide and cheat sheet to your best hijab experience – chock full of articles and resources about why we wear hijab; hijab education by way of fabrics, hijab categories, accessories and foundations; and a plethora of styling tips and tricks!
2. Cultivating hijab confidence – if you’re new to hijab or even a veteran but not feeling confident in your hijab, we understand. Here are three ways to help grow your confidence.
3. I’m a Muslim woman in college. How do I manage? We solicited the answers to this “Ask Haute Hijab” question from a recent college grad to help you gain the best college experience as a hijabi and Muslim woman.
4. When Muslim girls and boys are friends, you need to be aware of and on top of these four challenges in order to keep it all halal.
As we roll into September, we’re excited to be bringing you a series of stories focused on the convert/revert experience in an effort to widen our body of resources and work to serve the women in our communities who are new(er) to Islam. Our writer Danah is working on a story geared towards born-Muslims about important things they can do to support new(er) Muslims in their communities at various stages.
HH writer Layla is researching and bringing you an article about some of the best places where those who don’t know how to read the Quran in Arabic can learn to do so. As she and I were discussing this article, she made the strong point to me that not feeling comfortable in reading the Quran in Arabic (or being able to do it at all) is a great leveler between converts/reverts and those who are born Muslim.
We also have a guest contributor who is writing about why she feels her shahada story and why she converted to Islam is her business, and how she doesn’t owe anyone her story to anyone, and how we need to be more sensitive in asking those who convert to Islam about their story.
These are just some of the stories we are bringing you this month around this topic. We’d love to hear from you if you have any ideas about what we should write on and explore in regards to the experience and needs of converts/reverts.
Also, across the company we are in strategic planning mode, brainstorming and thinking about the products and projects we want to be focusing on in the immediate future and in 2023 to take Haute Hijab and our commitment to serving you to the next level! Please keep us in your du’as for success and growth in our endeavors. We hope your month goes well and that your du’as are answered in the best way possible for you, and that we all remain steadfast in trusting in Allah’s (S) plan for us all.
With that, take care, see you on the blog and as always, start everything you do with Bismillah!
Editorially yours,
Dilshad
