When I was in high school one of my cardinal rules was never to wear black with brown. All these years later the lesson is there are no rules - trends and styles come and go. I remember there was a time I cringed at the thought of pointy-toe heels when we were all wearing square-toed chunky heels. The thought of tapered jeans back in the 90's when all I owned were wide-leg jeans two sizes too big was hilarious. Point is, never say never.

I'm wearing a super comfy sweater from ASOS - it's sold out but I found a similar one in some beautiful colors here. The coat is Tahari and can be found in black here. My pants are super old school from Max Studio - I got them back when skinny pants first came out and were more like boot-cut fit - so score! I avoid wearing black pants like the plague cause they make my already skinny legs look even worse but bravely busted them out for this outfit! The longer sweater and black from head-to-toe definitely helped.
