Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful. And since we’ve no place to go, let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! - so goes the old winter classic, and though it may not be snowing or sleeting where you live, fall and it’s chilliness is here, and winter is just around the bend. And, if you can’t escape to somewhere warmer, what’s a girl to do?
Lean into the cuddle, lean into the cozy! Or as Donna from “Parks & Recs” famously said – treat yo self! Let’s talk about some of the things you can do around the home or treat yourself to elevate the coziness as you are out and about!
1. Lean into Jersey Hijabs
When it’s getting cold outside all you want to do is find that coziness inside. Or, if you have to venture out, you need a hijab that will keep you stylish and cozy! So, lean into jersey! Our jersey hijabs are just the ticket for effortless hijab wearing without any pins. Although the medium-weight jersey fabric works great in any season, their luxurious softness and easy styling makes them oh-so-comforting on those chilly days! They wrap snugly around the head in a myriad of styles, helping to keep the wind out and tucking nicely into sweaters and coats!
Although Light Mink and Rose Quartz are some of our top sellers, winter was also *made* for jewel tones – I’m digging this warm Cranberry, this vibrant Jade Teal and this Raisin, which I find to be the right shade of not-too-light, not-too-deep pinky-purple that works well with so many different jeans and sweaters.
2. Lean into Cardigans
Fall and Winter just doesn’t feel right to me without cardigans, and I’m a sucker for buying a new one each cold season (making sure to properly recycle or give away an old one when I bring a new one into my closet). My daughter and I took a break from our busy school-and-work lives to do some online shopping last week and found some great cozy cardigans! Fortunately she stopped me from buying yet another gray one, as I can’t seem to get enough of them!
But if you’re looking for a great gray cardigan, which will amplify the cozy and can be dressed up or down in a number of ways, check out this beauty from ASOS - an oversized cardigan with horn effect buttons. Or, if you want a more structured and polished look with just a bit of fun detail, try this textured cardigan from JCrew. That Sugarplum jersey hijab I was talking about? It would look great with this! :)
3. Lean Into Socks
You heard me! If the toes aren’t warm, then nothing feels right. Finding that right type of warm and comfortable socks that don’t make your boots feel bulky is one challenge. Travel & Leisure in fact break down all the different types of socks that suit winter wear and travel. Uniqlo makes a great Heattech variety that keeps your toes warm while eliminating the bulk. And if you want some warm fuzzies to wear around the house, look no further than your neighborhood Target!
4. Lean Into Hot Chocolate and Throws
I could drink hot chocolate year round (and I do), and we probably have one too many throws in my home. The combination of the two after you get home from battling the elements (with so many of us utilizing outdoor spaces into the colder months during these covid times) can be just the ticket to helping you feel all cuddly and cozy. You probably have warm throws and blankets already, but if you’re looking for a good one, check out this cozy pom pom throw from Pottery Barn.
As for hot chocolate - we have tried a number of mixes as well as making our own blend out of chocolate, milk, a smidge of vanilla essence and a cinnamon stick. My daughter and I are partial to this Starbucks Hot Chocolate, this one from Ghiradelli and this new one I just tried - a decadent and Wicked Hot Chocolate from celebrity chef Jacques Torres that combines chillies with chocolate for a spicy kick! (Torres also make a classic hot chocolate that is pretty yum!)
Jersey hijabs, cardigans, warm socks, a soft throw blanket and a mug of hot chocolate. If you have to deal with the end of winter, you may as well make it as cuddly and cozy as possible!
